About Therapy
This work is about coming home to yourself. I specialize in supporting people ages 12 and up who carry the lasting effects of trauma – whether from childhood, relationships, systemic harm, or moments that shifted everything.

You’ve been “doing the work.”
Read the books,
Done the breathing exercises,
And tried to make sense of it all.
You’re doing everything you can to move forward, yet a part of you still feels stuck.
Old pain keeps showing up in new ways.
Whether you’re 14 or 44, the impact of trauma doesn’t always make logical sense.
It lives in your body, your relationships, and your nervous system.
It makes you feel anxious, disconnected, numb, reactive, overwhelmed, or just tired – of holding so much, of not being understood, of pretending you’re fine.
You don’t have to keep doing this alone.
In our work together, you’ll have space to slow down, tune in, and be met exactly where you are.
Our sessions aren’t about rushing to fix things… they’re about:
- Building safety,
- Finding your rhythm, and
- Gently working with the parts of you that have been holding on for dear life.
My approach is relational, intuitive, and grounded in both science and soul.
I bring presence, curiosity, and zero judgment to the work we do.

Here’s what you can expect…
Warmth.
Compassion.
Attunement.
I don’t just listen. I walk with you.
I’ll guide you using trauma-informed tools like EMDR, parts work (IFS), nervous system regulation, and mindfulness.
These approaches help you go deeper, not by reliving trauma, but by reprocessing it in a way that allows healing to finally happen.
And life will get a lot easier.
The shifts are sometimes subtle and sometimes seismic. But they’re always sacred.
Sleeping better.
Setting boundaries without guilt.
Crying when you need to.
Laughing more freely.
And perhaps above all…
You’ll feel safe in your skin for the first time in years.

This is a space for all of you…
The part that’s afraid…
The part that’s angry…
The part that still hopes…
And the part that’s just trying to get through the day.
You don’t need to show up perfectly. You just need to show up, and I’ll meet you there.

About Sarah Olynger, LCSW

I became a trauma therapist because…
I believe healing is a sacred process… and everyone deserves a space where they can feel safe, seen, and truly supported.
The path that led me here is deeply personal, shaped by my own journey of healing. I’ve felt the quiet strength of therapy and the profound, embodied shifts of EMDR and somatic work. I know what it’s like to sit with pain, move through discomfort, and gently release the weight of trauma – making space for calm, clarity, and a deeper sense of wholeness.
Because of that, I hold deep compassion for every part of the healing journey: the messy, the beautiful, the stuck places, and the breakthroughs.
Welcome to my practice!
I’m a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) and EMDR-Certified Therapist with advanced training in nervous system regulation, parts work, and trauma-informed care.
My sessions are offered virtually throughout California and in person at my cozy office in Encinitas, just a few minutes from the ocean.
I believe laughter belongs in therapy. So do tears. So does silence.
This work is my calling. It would be an honor to walk with you on your path.
Outside of the therapy room…
I’m someone who finds peace in nature, meaning in music, joy in deep conversation, and wonder in travel.
And I’m always on the lookout for a good oat milk latte and the next inspiring book on healing, consciousness, or nervous system science.
